First they buried him in Guam then later flew him home to Artesia to be buried beside his mom and dad. I'm also looking for info on my stepdad, John Simons, uncle Donald's big brother, who was in the army, and trained at Ft. Bliss, Ft. Benning, Camp Robinson, Camp McClain,went to Boston, to England, then to Normandy. He wasn't in the Invasion, was sent to Omaha Beach and wounded there. My stepdaddy is 85, now, and hoping someone will remember him and write to me. Oh, also he played the tuba in the army. Says they didn't need a tuba player in Normandy. Lucky for the family, I believe. |
